Terms & Conditions
Last updated: August 2026
These Terms & Conditions apply to all dress and garment hire bookings made with HiredIt (“HiredIt”, “we”, “us” or “our”) through our website or directly with us.
By placing a booking, making payment or taking possession of a HiredIt item, you (“the Hirer”, “you” or “your”) agree to these Terms & Conditions.
1. Hire Period
HiredIt offers hire periods of 3 Days and 5 Days, as displayed on the relevant product page.
Your hire period begins on the Hire Start Date selected at the time of booking.
The Return Date is automatically calculated based on your selected hire period:
-
3 Days: return on the day following the three-day hire period.
-
5 Days: return on the day following the five-day hire period.
For example, a 3 Day hire beginning on 15 August has a Return Date of 18 August.
The item must be returned or lodged for postal return on the Return Date shown in your booking unless otherwise agreed by HiredIt in writing.
2. Availability
All bookings are subject to availability.
Dates shown as unavailable on our booking calendar cannot be selected. HiredIt may also maintain a buffer period between bookings to allow sufficient time for returns, inspection, cleaning and preparation.
We take reasonable steps to maintain accurate availability information. If an item becomes unavailable due to circumstances such as a previous hirer returning an item late, loss, damage or another event outside our reasonable control, we will contact you as soon as reasonably possible.
Where HiredIt cannot fulfil a confirmed booking, we may offer an appropriate replacement, rescheduling or refund, subject to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
3. $50 Refundable Bond
A $50 refundable bond per dress is automatically added to each hire.
The bond is separate from the hire fee.
Following return, HiredIt will inspect the item. Where the item has been returned on time and in an acceptable condition in accordance with these Terms, the applicable bond will be refunded to the original payment method.
Refund processing times may vary depending on the customer's bank or payment provider.
HiredIt may deduct from or retain all or part of the bond where reasonably necessary to cover amounts properly payable under these Terms, including:
-
late-return charges;
-
damage beyond reasonable wear associated with proper use;
-
missing components or accessories;
-
excessive cleaning required because of the condition in which the item was returned; or
-
other reasonable costs arising from the customer's breach of these Terms.
If HiredIt's reasonable loss exceeds the value of the bond, the customer may be responsible for the additional reasonable cost, subject to applicable law.
We will not retain a bond merely for ordinary wear associated with proper use of the garment.
4. Photo Identification
HiredIt may require valid government-issued photo identification before releasing or dispatching a hire item.
The name on the identification should correspond with the person responsible for the booking unless otherwise approved by HiredIt.
We may decline to release an item if required identification or verification is not provided.
Photo identification is collected for legitimate hire-related purposes, including identity verification, fraud prevention and the recovery of unreturned property.
Please refer to our Privacy Policy for information about how personal information is handled.
5. Condition of Hire Items
HiredIt garments are rental items and may have been worn previously.
We inspect items between hires and aim to provide them in a clean and wearable condition.
Minor signs of previous wear that do not materially affect the appearance or use of the garment may not constitute a defect.
If you believe an item has arrived damaged, incorrect or materially different from its stated condition, you should contact HiredIt as soon as reasonably possible and preferably before wearing the item.
Photos may be requested so that we can assess the issue.
6. Customer Responsibility
From the time the item is collected or delivered until it is returned to HiredIt, the customer is responsible for taking reasonable care of it.
You must not, without prior written approval:
-
alter or permanently modify the garment;
-
cut, hem, dye or otherwise permanently change it;
-
remove labels;
-
use adhesives, fabric glue or other products likely to damage the garment; or
-
allow another person to take possession of the item in circumstances that create an unreasonable risk of loss or damage.
You should take particular care around fake tan, makeup, food, drinks, oils, perfume, sharp jewellery, handbags, Velcro and other substances or objects that may stain, pull or damage delicate fabrics.
7. Cleaning
Standard cleaning following ordinary use is included in the hire price unless otherwise stated.
Customers should not dry-clean, machine-wash or otherwise professionally clean the garment unless HiredIt has expressly instructed them to do so.
If an item is returned in a condition requiring specialist or excessive cleaning beyond normal cleaning following ordinary wear, HiredIt may charge the reasonable additional cost incurred.
8. Damage
We understand that minor wear can occur during normal use.
Customers will not automatically be charged for ordinary wear resulting from proper use.
Where a garment is damaged beyond reasonable wear, HiredIt may charge the reasonable cost of repair.
Examples may include significant tears, broken zippers, burns, permanent staining, substantial pulls, unauthorised alterations or other damage caused while the item is in the customer's possession.
If the garment cannot reasonably be repaired, the customer may be responsible for the reasonable value of the loss suffered by HiredIt, taking into account relevant circumstances such as the garment's condition and value.
9. Lost or Unreturned Items
All garments remain the property of HiredIt.
A customer must not sell, lend, dispose of or otherwise transfer ownership of a hired item.
If an item is lost or is not returned, HiredIt may take reasonable steps to recover the item and may seek payment for the resulting reasonable loss.
The $50 bond does not limit the customer's responsibility for an item that is lost, deliberately damaged or not returned.
10. Late Returns
Items must be returned on the Return Date stated in the booking.
Late returns can affect another customer's booking and may cause HiredIt additional costs.
If you believe your return will be late, contact us as soon as possible.
Where an item is returned late, HiredIt may charge a reasonable late fee reflecting the consequences and costs of the delay.
Where a late return causes HiredIt to incur additional loss, including disruption to a subsequent confirmed booking, HiredIt may seek recovery of reasonable loss to the extent permitted by law.
11. Postal Returns
Postal customers must use the return method and instructions supplied by HiredIt.
Where a prepaid return label is provided, it should be attached to the return packaging as instructed.
The parcel must be lodged with the specified postal or delivery provider on the Return Date at the latest, unless your booking instructions state an earlier deadline.
Customers should retain proof of lodgement or tracking information until the return has been confirmed.
A parcel lodged after the required Return Date may be treated as a late return.
12. Local Pickup & Return
Customers selecting local pickup must collect their item from the agreed location and within the communicated collection window.
Pickup hires must be returned to the nominated HiredIt location by the Return Date specified in the booking.
Collection and return instructions may be provided separately after booking.
13. Sizing & Fit
Customers are responsible for reviewing the size, measurements, description and other product information before booking.
Sizing can vary significantly between designers and garments.
HiredIt does not guarantee that a garment will fit based solely on the labelled size.
If you are uncertain about sizing, please contact us before booking and we can provide available garment information or measurements.
Change-of-mind and fit-related cancellations are dealt with under our Refund & Cancellation Policy and do not affect any rights you may have under Australian Consumer Law.
14. Use of the Garment
Garments are hired for ordinary personal wear unless otherwise agreed.
Customers must use reasonable care and must not use an item for any illegal purpose or in circumstances that create an unreasonable risk of serious damage.
15. Cancellations & Refunds
Cancellations, change-of-mind requests, sizing issues and booking changes are governed by our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.
16. Australian Consumer Law
Our goods and services may come with consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude, restrict or modify rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified.
17. Website Information
We aim to display product colours, descriptions, sizing, pricing and availability as accurately as reasonably possible.
Colours may appear differently depending on lighting, photography and device displays.
18. Acceptance of Terms
By completing a booking with HiredIt, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to these Terms & Conditions, our Refund & Cancellation Policy, Return Policy and Privacy Policy.
19. Contact
Questions regarding a booking or these Terms & Conditions can be submitted through the contact details provided on the HiredIt website.
Refund & Cancellation Policy
Last updated: August 2026
We understand that plans can change. This policy explains how cancellations, booking changes, refunds and refundable bonds are handled by HiredIt.
Nothing in this policy limits any rights or remedies available under the Australian Consumer Law.
1. Change of Mind
Because a confirmed booking reserves a specific garment for specific dates and prevents other customers from hiring it during that period, HiredIt does not generally provide refunds for change of mind.
Change of mind includes circumstances such as:
-
no longer attending an event;
-
changing your outfit;
-
finding another garment;
-
ordering the incorrect size;
-
deciding you no longer want the garment; or
-
personal circumstances unrelated to HiredIt's ability to fulfil the booking.
We encourage customers to carefully check dates, sizing and product information before completing a booking.
2. Cancellation Requests
If you need to cancel a booking, please contact HiredIt as soon as possible.
Depending on how far in advance the cancellation is made and whether the garment can reasonably be re-hired for those dates, HiredIt may, at its discretion, offer a booking credit, date change or other solution.
Any discretionary credit or accommodation does not create an obligation for HiredIt to provide the same outcome for future cancellations.
3. Booking Changes
Requests to change:
-
the hire date;
-
hire duration;
-
garment;
-
size; or
-
delivery/pickup method
should be made as early as possible.
Changes are subject to availability and any applicable price difference.
A booking change is not confirmed until HiredIt has approved it.
4. Sizing & Fit
Customers are responsible for reviewing the size and product information before booking.
Designer sizing varies, and HiredIt cannot guarantee that an item will fit based solely on its labelled size.
A garment not fitting as expected does not automatically entitle the customer to a refund where the garment supplied matches the item and size booked.
This does not affect rights arising where a product or service fails to meet an applicable consumer guarantee.
5. HiredIt Cannot Fulfil Your Booking
If HiredIt becomes aware that we cannot supply your confirmed garment for the booked period, for example because it has been lost, seriously damaged or returned late by a previous hirer, we will contact you as soon as reasonably possible.
Depending on the circumstances and your applicable legal rights, we may offer:
-
a suitable replacement garment;
-
transfer of the booking to another available date;
-
store credit; or
-
a refund.
You will not be required to accept a substitute garment where doing so would be inconsistent with your rights under applicable law.
6. Faulty, Incorrect or Materially Misdescribed Items
If you receive an item that you believe is:
-
materially damaged;
-
materially faulty;
-
the incorrect item or size; or
-
materially different from its description,
please contact HiredIt as soon as reasonably possible.
Where possible, please provide clear photographs before wearing the garment.
We will assess the issue and provide an appropriate remedy where required.
7. Australian Consumer Law
Consumer guarantees may apply to goods and services supplied by HiredIt.
Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
8. $50 Refundable Bond
The $50 bond charged per dress is separate from the hire fee.
The bond is intended to be refunded after the item has been returned and inspected, provided there are no properly payable deductions under the Terms & Conditions.
Where a deduction is made, HiredIt may provide information about the reason for the deduction.
Any remaining refundable bond amount will be returned to the original payment method.
9. Refund Processing
Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method where reasonably practicable.
Once HiredIt processes a refund, the time taken for funds to appear in your account is controlled by your bank or payment provider.
10. Contact
For cancellations, booking changes or refund enquiries, please contact HiredIt through the contact details on our website or via our official social channels.
Return Policy
Last updated: August 2026
This policy explains how HiredIt garments must be returned following a hire.
1. Your Return Date
Your Return Date is shown when you make your booking and is included with your hire information.
For HiredIt's standard hire options:
-
3 Days: the Return Date is three calendar days after the Hire Start Date.
-
5 Days: the Return Date is five calendar days after the Hire Start Date.
For example:
Hire Start Date: 15 August
3 Day Hire: 15–17 August
Return Date: 18 August
The Return Date is the date the garment must be returned to HiredIt or lodged for postal return, as applicable.
2. Postal Returns
If your hire was delivered by post, return the item using the return instructions supplied with your order.
Where HiredIt provides a prepaid return label:
-
Place the garment and any included accessories securely back into the supplied return packaging where practicable.
-
Attach the provided return label as instructed.
-
Lodge the parcel with the nominated postal or delivery provider no later than your Return Date.
-
Keep your lodgement receipt or tracking information until your return has been confirmed.
Do not leave a return parcel somewhere without obtaining appropriate evidence of lodgement where tracking or proof of lodgement is available.
3. Local Returns
For local pickup bookings, the garment must be returned to the nominated HiredIt return location by your Return Date.
Any specific access or return instructions supplied with your booking should be followed.
4. Late Returns
If you believe you will not be able to return your item on time, contact HiredIt immediately.
Late returns can affect another customer's confirmed booking.
Reasonable late charges or other amounts may apply in accordance with the HiredIt Terms & Conditions.
5. Do Not Clean the Garment
Standard cleaning after ordinary wear is handled by HiredIt.
Unless we specifically instruct you otherwise, please do not:
-
machine wash the garment;
-
hand wash it;
-
dry-clean it;
-
tumble dry it;
-
iron or steam delicate materials; or
-
use stain-removal chemicals.
Incorrect cleaning can permanently damage designer garments.
If you spill or stain something, contact us rather than attempting aggressive stain removal.
6. Returning Accessories
Any accessories, removable straps, belts, garment bags or other components supplied with the garment must also be returned.
Missing items may result in reasonable replacement costs being charged.
7. Condition on Return
Items should be returned in substantially the condition in which they were supplied, allowing for ordinary wear associated with proper use.
Please notify HiredIt if the item has been stained or damaged so we can arrange the appropriate cleaning or repair.
8. $50 Bond
Once your item has been received, HiredIt will inspect it.
Where the item has been returned on time and in acceptable condition in accordance with the Terms & Conditions, the applicable $50 refundable bond will be refunded.
If a properly payable amount is due for matters such as late return, damage, missing items or excessive cleaning, that amount may be deducted from the bond in accordance with the Terms & Conditions and applicable law.
9. Return Tracking
For postal returns, the customer is responsible for correctly lodging the parcel using the supplied return method.
Please retain proof of lodgement.
If tracking shows an issue after you have correctly lodged the return, contact HiredIt so the matter can be investigated.
10. Questions
If you are unsure when or how to return your garment, contact HiredIt before your Return Date.
